CDOT Goes Paperless with Online Project Plans

16-Feb-2017 to 11-Apr-2017

This week, CDOT moved to a more paperless approach to bid plans for contractors. Contractors can still order plans from the CDOT Print Shop but they will now be delivered for free on a CD with instructions on how to take it to a printer should you want paper copies. CDOT will continue to log those customers who have requested bid plans on the plan holders list. Plan revisions will also be delivered overnight to plan holders via FedEx.  This move is part of an overall transition that CDOT is making to a more digital and paperless environment. The CDOT Print Shop is still open at 4201 E. Arkansas Ave. but it will not be moving to the new CDOT Headquarters building when it is complete. Walk up or call in customer hours are now three days a week Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. CDOT anticipates officially transitioning and closing the Print Shop by the late fall of 2017.

In addition to the Print Shop changes, CDOT is also in the process of exploring a new digital platform that will combine current procurement, construction, and professional services bidding services. They will be soliciting feedback about how contractors work with CDOT, how bid plans are being used (print versus electronic), and the impact on contractors of shifting to a more digital platform. Look for additional communication regarding this process in the next couple of months. If you have any questions about the transition, please contact Amy Ford or Alvaro Duran at CDOT.
