CDOT Offering Free CDL Training through OJT Supportive Services

15-Jun-2017 to 12-Jul-2017

CDOT is rolling out a statewide OntheJob (OJT) Supportive Services Program to provide training and employment resources for women, minorities and other disadvantaged individuals traditionally underutilized in the Colorado highway construction industry. One part of this program is FREE Entry Level Commercial Driver Training that will help trainees obtain their Class A or Class B CDL.

CDOT has partnered with Colorado Contractor's Association (CCA) to provide this training opportunity to members and nonmember contractors, as well as unemployed community members. It is an excellent opportunity for small businesses to increase the number of CDL drivers on staff or recruit new employees who will obtain their CDL after completing the training course. The goal is to enable the target population to attain and retain career positions in infrastructure construction.

Trainees can schedule a 2hour block of time up to twice per day 7 days a week to practice backing and road skills to prepare them for their licensing test. Also, there is not a traditional classroom portion because this material is available to them online either at home or at the driving facility.

If you would like more information regarding this program, please contact CCA's Manger of Training, Moses Alvarez at or by calling the CCA office phone 3032906611 x18.
