New CDL License Requirement for Truck Drivers Effective this Summer
13-Apr-2018 to 24-Apr-2018
Truckers have long been the eyes and ears of the road, and Colorado
lawmakers decided to officially put that perspective to use as the state
continues its growing battle against human trafficking.
On Thursday, April 12, Gov. John Hickenlooper signed House Bill 1018 into
law which will require truck drivers to complete a half-hour human trafficking
awareness course (at no extra cost) in order to get a commercial driver's
license (CDL). The new law will go into effect over the summer.
Lawmakers and advocacy groups
hope that, with more trained eyes on
the road, law enforcement will have a
helping hand in stopping sex and labor
trafficking. It's time we all help the
effort!
