US DOT and Adams County Invite You to Support Women in Construction

04-Aug-2017 to 11-Oct-2017

On September 7th, the US DOT and Adams County are hosting an inagural Transportation Girl Luncheon to encourage young women to enter the construction industry and to celebrate the women who have led the way. Only 8% of the workforce in construction is women. In the next 10-15 years, the Denver metro area will see more construction than at any time in the past. With 20% of the construction workforce in Colorado retiring in the past 2 years, there is an acute need for workers in construction. The luncheon aims to encourage young women to enter this career field. All business owners, contractors, and young women are invited to attend and show support for women and girls in the construction and transportation industry. Your support will change the landscape of our industry and give girls reason to believe in possibilities for their life. One of the featured speakers will be Michelle Harris, Manager of the Regional Assistance Division for the US Department of Transportation and the MC for the event will be Amelia Earhart, 9NEWS Traffic Reporter.
